Through the VERVE pilot, coLAB partnered with mission-driven organizations to test this cloud-based software with a more connected approach to an organizational sustainability assessment, community stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning. The experience demonstrated how organizations can move beyond assumptions and use meaningful data to strengthen alignment, improve decision-making, and build a stronger foundation for long-term sustainability.

The goal of the VERVE pilot was to help organizations gain a clearer understanding of organizational health, stakeholder perspectives, and strategic priorities. Through sustainability assessments and stakeholder engagement, participants explored how greater visibility could support stronger alignment, more informed decision-making, and long-term sustainability.

Many organizations rely on limited data, informal feedback, or leadership assumptions when evaluating organizational performance which negatively impacts setting strategic priorities. Without a structured process for gathering stakeholder input and assessing organizational sustainability, leaders may miss important perspectives that influence long-term success. Additionally, many organizations attempt to mitigate the negative impact of limited data, and assumptions by hiring expensive consultants. If the consultant is good, the organization is lucky. Regardless, consultants tend to be episodic, expensive, and time intensive. Things that many mission driven organizations do not have, resources and time.

VERVE combines sustainability assessment, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning tools within a single platform. By transforming organizational feedback into clear, actionable insights, VERVE helps leaders identify strengths, uncover opportunities for growth, and build a stronger foundation for strategic conversations and decision-making. VERVE provides a live dashboard that becomes the heartbeat of the strategic plan, allowing the organization to monitor progress over the course of the year.
